Rapper Snoop Dogg Gives Up Smoking Marijuana
11
Snoop Dogg announced yesterday that he would quit smoking cannabis. He does so with a statement on Instagram. He said, “After much thought and discussion with my family, I have decided to quit smoking. Please respect my privacy at this time.”
Fans were divided over the news, with some in disbelief and joking. Ro Marley, son of iconic reggae singer Bob Marley, said, “No more barbecues at Uncle’s…the grill is closed this season.” It is currently unclear if the hip-hop artist’s promise is real or if the statement is part of an extensive marketing campaign for his cannabis company Leafs By Snoop.

Cannabis trade
“This will probably just be a viral campaign where he launches his own line of vaporizers or edibles or something,” someone responded. California, Snoop’s home state, was the first state to legalize the drug for medical use. It subsequently became legal for recreational use in the state in 2016, following Colorado and Washington, which did so in 2012. His company Leafs By Snoop, which he founded in Denver, Colorado, in 2015, specializes in producing his own cannabis strains, concentrates, flowers and edibles. Snoop has often smoked joints on stage during his live shows. It’s his trademark.
